Who
My name is Sasha Vlad and I am a Naval Architect & Designer.
I began my boating journey in South Africa with pencil and paper, Lego and Meccano, sheet-plastic hulls with DC motors in a pool, then traditional wooden boatbuilding in Auckland, NZ, followed by Naval Architecture in Southampton, UK. Gaining knowledge is a perpetual cycle, deeply satisfying and mandatory in order to remain relevant to the times.
I have had the opportunity to work with and learn from various design offices and boatbuilders over the last decade, from small, niche studios to class-leading super yacht builders. I have worked in small teams of 3 and large design offices with 20+. I have also project-managed high-grade builds while educating and transferring skills to yard crews. This multifaceted approach has granted me valuable insight into how a boat is "done right" from initial concept development to environmentally friendly and economic construction.
Why
If you can turn your hobby into a job, you will never have to work a day in your life. This, and my love of yachts, is what drives me to do what I do. I have a lot to offer the marine industry and it is my pleasure to share my knowledge and expertise with various clients to help them achieve and surpass their yachting goals.
